Framing Pine - Blue H2 - MGP10
Blue H2 treated pine framing is MGP10 stress-graded structural pine treated to H2 for internal, above-ground framing. It's the everyday framing timber for wall frames, studs, plates and noggings, roof framing and internal fit-outs, where the timber stays dry and protected from the weather. Pine is light, cuts cleanly and takes nails and screws easily, so frames go up fast on site.
We stock blue pine framing in 70 x 35, 90 x 35 and 90 x 45, in 2.4m and 6.0m lengths.

What is H2 framing timber used for?
H2 treatment protects pine against termites in dry, internal locations, which is why blue treated pine is the standard choice for house framing. Common uses include:
- Wall frames: studs, top and bottom plates and noggings
- Roof framing in protected roof spaces
- Internal walls and partitions in new builds, extensions and renovations
- Bulkheads, wall linings and internal fit-out framing
The 2.4m lengths (70x35 and 90x35) suit standard-height wall studs with less cutting, while 6.0m lengths cover plates, longer runs and cutting to custom heights. 70x35 is common for internal walls and 90x35 and 90x45 are typical for external and load-bearing walls, but always size framing members to your plans or AS 1684 span tables.
H2 treated pine isn't suited to outdoor or weather-exposed work. For decks, pergolas and external framing, use H3 treated pine framing. Where you need longer spans or a feature beam, look at our laminated Merbau beams.

H2 framing timber FAQs
What does H2 treated mean?
H2 is a hazard level for treated timber. H2 treated pine is protected against termites and borers for use inside the building envelope, above ground and out of the weather.
What does MGP10 mean?
MGP stands for Machine Graded Pine. MGP10 is a structural stress grade, so the timber is rated for framing under Australian standards and the timber framing span tables.
What's the difference between H2 and H3 treated pine?
H2 is for internal framing kept dry and protected. H3 is treated for outdoor, above-ground use where the timber is exposed to weather, such as decking frames, pergolas and verandahs.
Should I use 70x35 or 90x35 framing?
70x35 is widely used for internal, non-load-bearing walls, while 90x35 and 90x45 suit external and load-bearing walls. Check your plans or engineer's specifications for the right size for your build.
